As our new website has newly launched, we feel it’s only fair to give major credit to some of the most talented people in the business! Obviously without our photographers, we would never capture our designs coming to life or the pure joy and emotion of these most wonderful events. We are honored to have worked with so many amazing photographers over the years and would like to credit some of our very favorites that we’ve chose to showcase throughout our new website.
Based in Costa Rica, Juan Carlos, and his team from El Velo Photography truly took inspired and unforgettable shots for 5 days in Colorado Springs for Mary Erin and Stephen’s Broadmoor Gatsby Inspired Style wedding. It was easy to fall in love with Juan Carlos and his unique flair for the spectacular.
We met Preston Utley through Bridalize as one of their preferred vendors, based out of Vail, CO. We truly bonded through the planning and execution of Jeff and Angelas spectacular Beaver Creek Wedding Weekend. He’s the perfect balance of creative and multi talented, and well, just all around cool.
We could babble all day long about how adorable and sweet Katie Van Buren is, and how easy she was to work with! When we met her for Kate and Jay’s ultra cool Denver Art Museum Wedding…she was also very pregnant…in the middle of summer! Not to worry, she spent the day with a smile on her face and hundreds of truly incredible photos.
We’ve been lucky to work wiht Steve Stanton on a number of occasions, both in Colorado and Costa Rica. He has a personality that is truly magnetic and he is an insanely good person, both in heart and mind. His abilities are multi-facitied and we could brag all day about the admiral things he has done and make a hefty book of his beautfiul work…. We had a fabulous weekend in Steamboat for Allysa and Greg’s wedding last summer.
Dona Kopol flew in from California for Sarah and Matthew’s Keystone wedding and we immediately formed a “Girl’s Club” for the night! What a fun and talented woman, who actually gave her services as a gift to the bride and groom. Dona was all smiles and delivered nothing but stunning images and memories for this romantic wedding day.

Liz from WestWater Weddings was a huge ray of sunshine, and the rainbow, for Jaime and Eric’s Boulder Wedding at the Red Lion. We battled rain off and on all day, but the mood and the spirits were nothing but cheery throughout the day and the night. We were lucky to have met Liz and been introduced to her work. It’s truly obvious that she loves what she does!
It was so fun to work with Shawn Lortie up in Copper Mountain on Brandi and Jack’s Spring wedding! Having one of the hugest snowstorms just days before the wedding, everyone pulled together to make the weekend a romantic winter wonderland event! Shawn captured the beauty and love exchanged between the bride and groom and their family and friends. We look forward to a long working relationship with Shawn!

We’re finally breaking in our blog! And, we are breaking it in with big news! Mountain Occasions has been nominated for a 2009 ICON award for “The Best Wedding Over 75K” category! This is a huge honor for us and we are so proud of the work that we have submitted. The photo above is also on the cover of Confetti Magazine this year, and our wedding is featured on pages 72 and 73. Juan Carlos from El Velo photography in Costa Rica, captured the most gorgeous images of the most beautiful, sweet couple, Mary Erin and Stephen Carr. They were married at the Community Church in Manitou Springs followed by an unforgettable reception at the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, on October 4th, 2008. The couple wanted something romantic with lots of surprises for their guests. We decided on a Great Gatsby type theme as a way to incorporate so many great ideas.

The newlyweds came down the aisle and rang the old church bell while their guests rang tiny bells in memory of the bride’s grandmother. The couple arrived at their reception in style in a vintage Duesenberg car.
The cocktail reception began lakeside with a Jazz Trio and the signature cocktail, the Carr-tini, flowing through the custom luge ice sculpture. Guests then made their way into the elegant dining room to find centerpieces dripping with crystals and chandaliers dressed in floral and foliage. Newberry Brothers Florist set the tone perfectly with whites, creams and greens and kisses of candlelight.
Guests were then treated to a Frank Sinatra impersonator, Ol’ Blue Eyes Quartet, during their 5 course dinner. The next surprise arrived after dinner with professional Swing Dancers entertaining the crowd and dancing with the guests! This led the party into full swing when the 10 piece Park Avenue Orchestra took over the entertainment for the evening.
The party then overflowed out of the ballroom where other goodies were revealed! A live cigar/cigarette girl passed out cigars, mints and other fun things. A decadent Chocolate Candy Bar and Expresso Coffee Cart, the Carr-tini luge and an old time photo booth kept guests playing and laughing through the night. At night’s end, Mr. and Mrs. Carr escaped through a sea of sparklers into the 1964 Silver Cloud Rolls Royce where they made their getaway!

We are really looking forward to the Awards Gala on March 11 at the Ritz Carlton. The Event Industry’s version of the Academy Awards I suppose! Well, anyway, at least it calls for a new dress and some fabulous shoes for Aimee and myself! We’ve also been inspired to start submitting more of our weddings. We work with so many fabulous brides and every wedding has such unique elements…we should be bragging about them!
I also have to give our company one more little pat on the back… but it seems our hard work is paying off as Aimee was featured in this month’s The Knot Colorado (www.theknot.com ) She had some great Colorado Wedding advice and it’s nice to be noticed of course! Don’t forget you can also find Aimee working hard in Costa Rica too with www.tropicaloccasions.com! Don’t forget to subscribe to our new blog and keep up on our latest ramblings, bridal brags, great finds, dazzling ideas and top trends and shamless attempts at getting your attention!
